Beliefs

Sixth Avenue United Church is a congregation of the United Church of Christ. We are an open and affirming congregation. That means that we welcome all people regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, and disability. We have a strong tradition of openness towards a diversity of beliefs about God and the role of religion in our everyday lives.Sixth Avenue participates in a number of local and global mission projects, providing immediate assistance and working toward long-term solutions. Projects include collecting food donations for Denver Inner City Parish, which serves homeless and needy people, participating in AIDS Walk Colorado, and sponsoring a family during the holidays.

Sixth Avenue has been serving the Capitol Hill and Cherry Creek communities for over 100 years, providing a place to worship and to gather. Our building hosts many activities of our community, such as the annual Halloween party for neighborhood children and the Denver Potters’ Guild semi-annual sale. Our facility is home to a number of other groups as well, such as Kindermusik, Girl Scouts, Aerobics classes, Baby Sign Language, an African Drummers troupe, yoga, and others.

Our building is available for a variety of uses: weddings, music and theatre programs, retreats, funerals, and small to medium size meetings. As a community resource, we offer space for rent at reasonable prices. We have several meeting rooms, a gymnasium, and an industrial kitchen, perfect for preparing luncheons and dinners.
